The Dolphin Diet!

Time to discuss something that links all us animals together: FOOD!

This surely goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway. Food is so freakin’ tasty crucial for survival. In the dolphin world, food means fish, and a lot of it. But those fish need food too. Where do they get their energy from?

Food webs answer this question. They’re essentially a map of who’s-eating-who in an ecosystem, and help us take a step back and look at the big environmental picture.

Without further ado, you can read the original research in Frontiers in Marine Science here (open access): Niche Differentiation and Prey Selectivity among Common Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) Sighted in St. George Sound, Gulf of Mexico
