Beluga Bits citizen science

Think belugas are super cute? Interested in some armchair research?

If you’ve ever wanted to see belugas in the wild, but going to the arctic is just a little too out of the way, today’s your lucky day. Some scientists studying different aspects of beluga lives (life history, sociality, habitat use…) need help classifying photos taken by an underwater camera in Hudson Bay, Canada. There are over 7,000 photos to check; needless to say, they need some extra pairs of eyes!

You can find more info on the project, and the photos to classify on Zooniverse: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/stephenresearch/beluga-bits
